A great set of eyebrows can really frame the eyes and give the face a real lift. A lot of people however do not know that to get a good arch you need to remove hair from the top of the brow and in some cases people need to cut some of their eyebrow hair rather than get rid of it entirely.
Before your eyebrow waxing appointment you should come in with a reasonable amount of hair, as this will give your therapist something to work with.
The process for removing hair to create an attractive eyebrow can be divided into three sections: brow beginning, brow arch and brow end.
Brow beginning:
Rest a clean spatula at the widest part of the nose. Let the spatula pass directly over the inside corner of the eye. If you can't see the brow at this point because the spatula covers it, the eyebrow begins in the correct place. If the end of the brow extends past the spatula, mark off that point with an eyebrow pencil for hair removal.
Brow Arch:
The client should look straight ahead. Using the centre of the pupil, tilt the spatula from the widest part of the nose over the eye. The correct placement of the brow arch is the point where the spatula meets the eyebrow. If the arch is not correctly placed, use an eyebrow pencil to mark the corrections.
Brow End:
Resting the spatula at the widest part of the nose, slant it just past the outside end of the eye at the point in which the spatula meets the brow line. If the brow extends beyond the spatula, mark for hair removal. Otherwise OK.
After the correct shape is determined hair can be removed for correct shaping.
How eyebrow waxing is done
- Discuss shape options-look at examples.
- The therapist will powder well (use tissue).
- Trim front of eyebrows on an angle towards the opposite inner eye.
- Wax underpart of both eyebrows where the arch commences.
- wax separately the front of the eyebrow.
- Massage soothing lotion into eyebrows.
- Start shaping with tweezers.
- Check shape! You're off!
